NEW YORK, New York - U.S. stocks closed sharply higher on Friday, while the dollar fell.
The Dow Jones industrials continued on their road to a record high, consolidating above the 26,000 level. The key index on Friday finished 269.25 points or 1.03% ahead at 26,412.30.
The Standard and Poor's 500 added 19.09 points or 0.66% tp 2,907.41.
The tech-laden Nasdaq Composite gained 36.90 points or 0.46% to 7,984.16.
The euro rose to 1.1305 by the New York close on Friday.
Sterling strengthened to 1.3080. The Swiss franc rose to 1.0024.
The Canadian dollar firmed to 1.332, while the Australian and New Zealand dollars rose to 0.7171 and 0.6763 respectively.
The Japanese yen went against the trend, sliding to 112.00.
