President-elect chooses Attorney-General
Melbourne News.Net Tuesday 18th November, 2008
Newsweek has reported that President-elect, Barack Obama, has decided to hire Eric Holder, a former senior official in the Clinton administration, to be Attorney General.
Holder was a senior legal advisor for Obama's presidential campaign.
Newsweek said on its website that the 57-year-old Holder, who was deputy attorney general under President Bill Clinton, still had to undergo some formal vetting before his selection could finally be announced.
Mr Holder would be the first African American to head the Justice Department.
It is believed the offer will be formally announced after Barack Obama announces his choices to lead the Treasury and State Department.
